The Tafsir al-Tabari

The Jāmiʿ al-bayān ʿan taʾwīl āy al-Qurʾān, (Arabic: جامع البيان عن تأويل آي القرآن) popularly known as Tafsir al-Tabari (تفسير الطبري), was a tafsir written by the historian and scholar Al-Tabari, containing interpretations of the verses of the Quran.[1] After the book was lost from the House of Wisdom, the Hidden One Basim ibn Ishaq recovered it from the Nestorian Monastery's crypts and returned it to the chamber's library.[2]

Basim's description[edit | edit source]

Al-Tabari knows the Quaran as well as one could hope. He must have dedicated every moment of his walking life to the words of the Prophet. The word of God is one, but men interpret it many different ways. He has tried his best to record these discussions and debates so we can all get closer to the true Word of God. In the intellectual sphere, it is a truly courageous and daunting work.

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Tafsir al-Tabari is one of the collectibles in Assassin's Creed: Mirage as part of the memory "Al-Jahiz's Lost Books". However, it's appearance in the game is anachronistic, as the book would not be published until 883.
