South Carolina is a state located in the southern region of the United States, bordered by North Carolina and Georgia. It was one of the thirteen colonies that claimed independence from Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War.
History[edit | edit source]
In May 1718, the infamous pirate Blackbeard laid siege to the city of Charles-Towne, demanding medical supplies for the disease-ridden Pirate Republic.[1]
In 1776, the Royal Navy was defeated at the Battle of Sullivan's Island, preventing them from capturing the city of Charleston. The Continental Army's victory was due in part to the apprentices of the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton, who advised reinforcing Fort Sullivan with superior wood.[2]
In 1779, the Colonial Assassins killed Hugh Jackson, a Templar associate, at the Battle of Stono Ferry.[3] The following year, they assassinated the Templar Patriot Johann de Kalb at the Battle of Camden.[4] Later that year, they aided the Patriot general Thomas Sumter when he engaged Banastre Tarleton at the Battle of Blackstock's Farm.[5]
The Assassins also came to South Carolina to aid Emily Geiger in carrying information on the Templars to the Patriots,[6] and made contact with Francis Marion ("the Swamp Fox"), having initially been concerned by his guerrilla methods.[7]
