However, Colonel Monro would die shortly thereafter at the hands of Liam, who managed to steal the Manuscript and take it back to the Assassins. Although not specified in-game, a significant passage of time occurs during the memory, specifically between Monro's death and Shay's initiation ceremony. Monro historically died in November 1757, but according to the 2012 novel ''[[Assassin's Creed: Forsaken]]''—which is presented in-universe as [[Journal of Haytham E. Kenway|Haytham Kenway's journal]]—Haytham was in [[Europe]] at the time and would not return to America until after January 1758. This means that the ceremony took place several months after Monro's death, a fact which is supported by the following memory, "[[Men o' War]]", being set in June 1758.

Scars was a virtual representation of one of Shay Cormac's genetic memories stored in the Helix, relived by "Numbskull" in 2014 through the Animus Omega.[1]

Having sailed to Albany, Shay and his first mate Christopher Gist found the city in turmoil, with Colonel George Monro's troops clashing with Kesegowaase's forces.

The Morrigan neared Albany's harbor.

  • Christopher: Damn the Devil! What happened here?
  • Shay: Kesegowaase!
  • Christopher: Then we are too late.
  • Shay: No. Fort Frederick is nearby, I'm sure the Colonel can hold it.
  • Christopher: You heard the Captain, lads! Make haste!

Shay docked the Morrigan.

He then went ashore and made his way through Albany.

Although not specified in-game, a significant passage of time occurs during the memory, specifically between Monro's death and Shay's initiation ceremony. Monro historically died in November 1757, but according to the 2012 novel Assassin's Creed: Forsaken—which is presented in-universe as Haytham Kenway's journal—Haytham was in Europe at the time and would not return to America until after January 1758.
