Sarcophagus Shield

The Sarcophagus Shield was a type of heavy shield used in England during the 9th century, made from a plank torn from the sarcophagus which held a young Mercian king.

During her travels, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan acquired this shield from a chest at Dhustone Quarry, Sciropescire.[1]
