Rafee (died 1189) was a member of the Levantine Brotherhood of Assassins during the Third Crusade.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 1189, amidst a Templar siege of Masyaf, Al Mualim tasked the Assassin Faisal with flanking the oncoming Templars to drive them from the village. Rafee offered his help, although he was rejected by Faisal.[1] Ultimately, the Assassins were able to repel the Templar attack.[2]
Later, in Damascus, Rafee discovered Faisal meeting the Templar known only as "The Hideout". While the Templar escaped, Rafee questioned what Faisal was doing with one of their sworn enemies and implied that the perceived betrayal demanded death, but Faisal struck first, mortally wounding him. As Rafee lay dying, he forgave Faisal, acknowledging that his death might be necessary for their cause, to which Faisal responded by promising to make Rafee's death mean something and that what he was doing was for the Creed.[1]
