The Racecourse of Atalanta was a ruined racetrack located southeast of Fort Samikon in the Forest of Soron in Arkadia, Greece.
It was dedicated to Atalanta, a princess of Arkadia who lived during the 6th century BCE and was famous for declining to marry a man who couldn't beat her in a foot race.[1][2] During the Peloponnesian War, the track was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra where she encountered a bandit camp in its northern area.[3]
