Pindar (c. 518 BCE – c. 443 BCE) was an ancient Greek poet from Thebes, known as one of the Nine Lyric Poets.

At some point, Pindar wrote a poem for the Olympic champion Diagoras of Rhodes, dedicating it "To K, always be proud, little one. Your father is the greatest of pankration champions."[1]

During the 5th century BCE he owned a residence in the polis Orchomenos in Boeotia.[2]
