Antonio Vespucci was a Florentine nobleman who lived during the 15th century.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Father to one of the most beautiful women of her age, Cristina, Antonio was incensed by the nighttime visits of Cristina's lover, Ezio Auditore. Although he called the guards on Ezio more than once, they were never able to outmatch the young nobleman's speed and dexterity.[1]

Due to Antonio's adoration for his daughter, Cristina would often use her influence on him to ensure that Ezio did not suffer for his involvement with her.[2] In December 1476, however, Cristina was forced to end her relationship with Ezio when the latter left Florence upon being declared a fugitive.[3]

As his daughter entered adulthood, Antonio began to insist that Cristina choose what kind of life she wanted, and to pick a husband. She would eventually marry Manfredo Soderini.[2][4]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Cristina's database entry reveals that she was the cousin of famed navigator Amerigo Vespucci,[5] meaning Antonio was Amerigo's uncle and thus either a brother or cousin of Amerigo's father, Nastagio Vespucci.[6]
