Phelikles the Generous was a mercenary who operated in Greece  in 5th century BCE.

Unlike most mercenaries, Phelikles liked to donate his hard-earned money to those who needed it more than him.  According to some, he wanted everyone to be rich, while others claim he donated only to help those who couldn't afford the life he led.  But no matter the reason, his money was always put to good use.

He crossed paths with the Spartan misthios Kassandra during the Peloponnesian War.[1]
