Eivor arrives at the Peak Cavern

The Peak Cavern is a cave, west of Hemthorpe, in 9th century Snotinghamscire.

History[edit | edit source]

In 876, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir sought to find and retrieve a final gift for Hemming for his funeral. Traveling to Peak Cavern, Eivor ventured inside and found an exiled man, who was spared death from Clan Hemmingsons. The recluse challenged Eivor to build a cairn and decide on what mark should be put on the shield for Hemming. After deciding the markings, Eivor thanked the exiled craftsman and obtained Hemming's last gift.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
