Neufeld Homestead was a Frankish village build along the River Rhine in the central part of the region, southeast of the Fortified Ruins. It was protected by a few soldiers. Due in part to its minimal defenses, the Viking Vagn guided Eivor Varinsdottir and the crew of her longship Sea-Chariot to the location in order to raid it multiple times in the 9th century.[1]
