Neith is an Egyptian goddess of hunting and war, and she is the patron deity of the town of Sais. She is also regarded as a primordial goddess, creator of everything.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Neith was believed to be the mother of the crocodile-god Sobek, in some areas of Egypt during the 1st century BCE.[1]

Influence[edit | edit source]

In 1st century BCE, it was a common practice to thank the goddess after a successful hunt, as demonstrated by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa.[2]

Around the same time, bandits set up a camp within the ruins of a temple dedicated to Neith in Herakleion Nome.[3] At the time, there were also three bows dedicated to the goddess. They were the predator bows Concealed Garment and Neith's Observer, and the light bow Neith.[3]
