The Metropolitan Police Service, known colloquially as "the Met" or metonymically "Scotland Yard", is a police force based in the city of London, United Kingdom. Headquartered at Scotland Yard, the Met was responsible for maintaining the peace through the city, and ensuring all laws were followed. Most of his agents were stubborn, robust and grumpy, others like Inspector Abberline were noble and safe.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1868, the young Metropolitan officer Frederick Abberline, who was looking to build his reputation, enlisted the aid of the British Assassin twins Jacob and Evie Frye in solving a number of crimes.[1] Later, in 1888, Abberline led the police investigation and pursuit of the infamous serial killer "Jack the Ripper".[2]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

In reality, the Metropolitan uniform was such a dark blue that was almost black, which Assassin's Creed: Syndicate's developers found made police difficult to discern in the game's civilian crowds. Instead, a paler shade of blue was used to make them stand out for players' situational awareness. In terms of equipment, the in-game police were armed with revolvers for gameplay purposes, despite them historically using truncheons while a few service revolvers were kept at the station.[3] Another uniform inaccuracy includes some officers bearing a sergeant's rank insignia of three stripes on their upper arms yet wearing a chief inspector's gorget patches on their collars.
