To acomplish this, Ezio quitly kills neardy patrolls, then swims to the back of the boat and climbs just to the edge, so that he can drag the two guards patrolling the back of the vessel to their watery deaths, next Ezio uses poison to silently kill the two guards by the helm without attracting attention, allowing him to hide as the other men leave their posts to investigate. This is when Ezio takes his chance to leap down on the unsuspecting merchant, silencing him.

This article is about the lieutenant of Girolamo Savonarola. You may be looking for merchants in general.
I wanted to ask you something. Which is... what's your name?
This article title is conjecture. Although the article subject is canon, no official name for it has been given.
"We'll see just how tough the holdouts are when they're forced to go without food. If they want to eat, they'll accept Savonarola as their leader. A merchant (died 1497) served as one of Girolamo Savonarola's nine lieutenants, men that were put in charge to help Savonarola control Florence. He worked with the friar, forcing people to support him in exchange for food. As with so many others, Savonarola used the Apple of Eden to control the merchant.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Rise to power[edit | edit source]

When Savonarola took control of Florence, he assigned nine lieutenants. Each of these lieutenants had his own task, though most of the tasks were aimed at getting the citizens to follow Savonarola. The merchant withheld food supplies in an attempt to force citizens to follow Savonarola. If they wouldn't oblige, they would soon run out of food.[1]

Death[edit | edit source]

The merchant was stationed on a ship, and had many guards on the ship patrolling constantly, including two Brutes. At some point in 1497, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze set out to assassinate the merchant, in order to weaken Savonarola's rule. Making sure not to attract any attention, the Assassin made his way onto the stern deck. From there, he leapt down on the unsuspecting merchant and struck him with his Hidden Blade. In his dying moments, the merchant was shocked by his actions, but also claimed that the people needed to be coerced sometimes.[1]
