Meet the King was a virtual representation of one of Basim ibn Ishaq's genetic memories relived through the Animus.[1]

Basim prepared to hunt down the last of the Forty Thieves and their leader.
Dialogue[edit | edit source]
Basim returned to the camp the Forty Thieves used as a hideout.
- Basim: Back to where it all began.
Finding the camp heavily guarded, just like the last time he had been there, Basim dispatched all the thieves patrolling the area.
- Basim: Now, a door. It cannot be hard to find.
Basim approached the large ornate door that served as the entrance to the thieves' hideout. Remembering the words on the note Murjana had given him, he spoke the password aloud.
- Basim: Hmm... Iftah ya simsim (Open sesame.)
The door opened, allowing Basim to enter the cave.
Basim made his way through the cave, eliminating two thieves who were resting near a campfire. He then came across a note detailing the King of Thieves' orders to his men.
King of Thieves' Commands
- Ali Baba is dead. Clean up the loose ends and make sure the hideout's secrets stay hidden.
- Basim: A man's life is not a loose end. The King of these Thieves shall pay.
Basim entered a large open chamber, where all of the thieves' loot was stored. He overheard two thieves discussing the King's flaming sword as they moved away from the door.
- Thief 1: ...the burst of fire as it emerges from the sheathe... If only the King would let us take a few swings.
- Thief 2: You wish.
- Thief 1: And it cost him no coin too!
- Thief 2: When you are us, most things come free.
Moving closer to the center, Basim saw the remaining thieves standing guard and watching as the King berated one of his men for their failure to eliminate Murjana.
- The King of Thieves: You let the girl live? I must have overestimated the lot of you.
Basim began eliminating the thieves before confronting the King head-on.
- The King of Thieves: Who is this now? Did Ali Baba's daughter send a loyal pup instead? What a waste of my time.
- Basim: I see that you are no legend. You are just a man.
- The King of Thieves: Ever watched as the skin blisters from pure fire?
- Basim: You talk too much.
- The King of Thieves: Dance, dance! You can do better than that!
Stop. Moving!
Despite the King making use of his flaming sword, Basim eventually killed him.
- Basim: You besmirch the name of kings and thieves.
The remaining thieves, seeing their leader slain, attacked Basim.
- Thief: La! King! La'anakum Allah!
Once all the thieves were defeated, Murjana arrived and found Basim standing next to the King's body.
- Murjana: I'm sorry, I took longer—He is...
- Basim: Gone.
Murjana went to inspect the King's sword and saw that, despite the legends, it was just an ordinary blade.
- Murjana: It was all just smoke and mirrors. Clever tricks, illusions... He had us all fooled.
- Basim: Not for long.
- Murjana: The blood has been paid. I thought I would feel lighter.
Murjana handed the sword to Basim.
- Murjana: Here, payment for your services.
- Basim: What will you do now?
- Murjana: I will join a caravan to Samarkand. When my father was alive, we saw many cities and partook in the joys life had to offer. Now, he is dead. I have nothing to stay for.
- Basim: Your father's wish for you came true in the end.
- Murjana: That it did, but not at a cost I desired. But I will go this road alone, and meet my father when it ends.
- Basim: I wish you well, Murjana. I hope we find each other again, some day.
- Murjana: You will find me, but I doubt I could find you, man of the shadow. Wada'an (Farewell), Hidden One.
Murjana left the cave, parting ways with Basim for the final time.
- Basim: Goodbye, Murjana. May Allah light your path.
