Mafdet was a goddess in Egyptian mythology.
Mythology[edit | edit source]
Mafdet was a goddess who was said to protect people against snake bites and scorpions. More importantly, she protected Osiris when he was murdered by his brother Seth and cut into pieces, and also protected the sun god Ra from threats on his daily solar barque voyages through the sky and into the Duat. She was often depicted wearing a cheetah skin.[1]
Legacy[edit | edit source]
By the 1st century BCE, a temple dedicated to Mafdet in the Saqqara Nome had been long since abandoned and turned to ruins. The Medjay Bayek of Siwa visited the ruins and claimed some treasures within.[2]
