The Kyoto Imperial Palace (京都御所) was the palace and residence of the Emperor of Japan for over five centuries, from 1337 to 1869. Situated in the heart of Kyoto, its grounds have been preserved and today serve as a tourist attraction.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke trespassed onto the palace grounds while traveling through Kyoto.[2]
In 1585, Naoe and her mother Tsuyu returned the Imperial Regalia to Emperor Ōgimachi at the palace. After handing the regalia to Ōgimachi's servants, Naoe and Tsuyu finally succeeded in their mission from the late Emperor Go-Nara to safeguard the artifacts. Before leaving, Tsuyu promised to go back to their old home and rebuild it while Naoe headed to meet with Yasuke and Junjiro outside the city.[3]
