Bell was raised in Michigan, United States by her mother Lorelei and father Tom Bell. From her father's second marriage, she has two stepsisters. From her mother's second marriage, she has two half-sisters and two half-brothers. She graduated from high school in 1998, after being heavily involved with her school's drama department.[1]
After high school, Bell moved to New York City where she majored in musical theatre at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. However, in 2001, Bell left her university prior to graduation in order to accept a role in the musical The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.[1]

Bell portrayed the character Lucy Stillman in Assassin's Creed, the first video game of the series released in 2007. Her likeness was mapped onto the character of Lucy using CGI and motion capture. She would reprise the role in the 2009 sequel Assassin's Creed II, and the following Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood released in 2010.[2]
In a 2017 Jeux Vidéo interview with former creative director Patrice Désilets, he alleged that Bell demanded royalties for her appearances in the games and future games. He subsequently had her character killed off, effectively firing her.[3]
