Before they could marry, he planned to retrieve items for their wedding while she waited nearby the Altar of Love. Within a short time, she was visited by Alkibiades' friend, Spartan misthios Kassandra, who gave her the wedding items. However, Iris admitted to marrying him for his influence and power over Athens. Unknown to her, Alkibiades knew of her intentions but continued the wedding plans due to his own ambitions.[1]
