The House of the Arrhephoroi was a building on the western side of the Akropolis Sanctuary in Athens, Greece.
Constructed around 470 BCE, the building served as the residence of the arrhephoroi, the young Athenian girls of noble birth chosen to serve the goddess Athena. The House of the Arrhephoroi was where they helped the priestess of the temple to weave a new peplos for the goddess, presented to her during the Panathenaia festival. The House was also were they prepared for their other duties, and learned to spin wool in addition to weaving.[1]
