Han dynasty: Difference between revisions
imported>Sol Pacificus I am hereby implementing a new paradigm for Chinese historiography for dating dynasties. Traditional dynastic date ranges are manipulated to fit a narrative of seamless continuity of succession that was not historically or factually true. (e.g. There were Ming regimes that held out for decades after Qing took Beijing; Yuan cont. to rule in Mongolia after being expelled from China, by the same logic Shu was also legitimately Han). etc.). |

The Han dynasty (漢朝; 202 BCE – 9 CE; 25 CE–263 CE) was the second imperial dynasty of China. Established by Liu Bang after a revolution against the Qin dynasty and a civil war against Xiang Yu, its four century-long lifespan of relative sociopolitical stability, economic prosperity, and cultural flourishing is significant for laying the foundations of Chinese identity and thereby defining its classical period. [citation needed]
History[edit | edit source]
During the Han dynasty, the Silk Road was a major trade route into China, and it ran through the Western Regions. It was via this road that Buddhism was first introduced into China from India, and the monks responsible for its transmission brought with them śarīra, so that they would be passed down from generation to generation.[1]
