History[edit | edit source]
By the 9th century, the high priestesses of the Women of the Mist that ran the island of Avalon used the very top of the Tor to make prayers and offerings to their gods amidst the white fog that covered the summit. To reach it, they used a sacred path laden with white stones.[1]
The witch-warrior Niamh of Argyll often visited the Lady atop the Tor, including on one occasion when she asked for guidance in her quest to infiltrate the Hidden Ones to ascertain their goals,[1] and when returning from her successful mission to recover Excalibur.[2]
