Madame Flavigny (died 1792) was a member of the French Rite of the Templar Order active during the French Revolution.
Biography[edit | edit source]
During the Revolution, Flavigny performed an initiation ceremony in the city's catacombs, personally inducting three men into the Templar Order. Unbeknownst to her, Maximilien de Robespierre's spy Didier Paton witnessed the ceremony while performing his duties to seek out suspected counter-revolutionaries.[1]
In summer of 1792, Flavigny posed as a dressmaker with a shop in Les Halles and worked for her fellow Templar Marie Lévesque by attacking the food convoys intended for Paris' markets. This caused much of the city's population to grow hungry. As citizens began accusing merchants of hoarding food, the city became unstable due to the frequent riots. The activist Théroigne de Méricourt uncovered Flavigny's machinations and alerted the French Assassins, who sent Arno Dorian to lead an Assassin team in recovering the stolen food and eliminating the Templar along with her subordinates.[2]
