Ercole I d'Este (1431 – 1505) was the Duke of Ferrara from 1471 to his death.

Ercole's rule saw Ferrara at war with the Republic of Venice[1] and the patronage of the actor Pietro Rossi.[2] Among his children were Isabella and Alfonso; the latter was his successor as Duke.

In 2012, he was included in a mnemonic set in Abstergo Industries' Project Legacy.[3]
