Dugr the Bold was a male Jötnar warrior who lived in Útgarðar, Jötunheimr.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Part of Utgard's fighting ring, Dugr the Bold waited for any fighter to join him in the ring as his partner. A visitor to the realm, the Æsir lord Havi came by the pit and offered to be his partner. In response, Dugr offered to transform into a bear, wolf, or a lynx upon Havi's preference. After choosing the animal, both Havi and Dugr faced their opponents. However, Dugr transformed into a rabbit while Havi beat their opponents single-handled. After the fight, Havi insulted Dugr about lying of his transformation skills while Dugr maintained it was all part of the plan. As requested, he gave Havi a note about some lost treasure before the lord left.[1]
