Douglas was a butler to Lady Ursula and planned to marry her maid Miriam. Needing money, Douglas accompanied Lady Ursula to the spiritualist Thaddeus the Great after the lady's kitten Mittens died. Realizing Thaddeus to be a conman, he worked with Thaddeus to encourage Lady Ursula to leave all her money to him.[1]
However, Douglas was informed by Anne Roberts, sister of Howard Roberts, of Thaddeus' past and how he double-crossed all of his past schemers to his former clients. Urged to kill Thaddeus, Douglas arrived with Lady Ursula at Thaddeus' house for the séance. However, during Thaddeus' performance to fake his death, Douglas grabbed a knife and stabbed him. However, one of the visitors happened to be Jacob Frye or Evie Frye, who investigated the crime.
