Calcutta, now referred to as Kolkata,[1] is a city in India.[2]
During the Seven Years' War, the Colonial Templar Shay Cormac sent a Templar envoy to retrieve a document from a Templar-allied agent of the East India Company office in Calcutta.[3] Shay would send ships to check in on that agent every so often, keeping a closer eye to the activities of the French and Mysoreans in the region.[4] In 1757, Mir Jafar, brother-in-law to then the head of the government of Bengal, promised special favors to the British military and naval forces in Calcutta in exchange for being made the ruler of Bengal.[5]
