The Citadel of Salah Al'Din, also known as the Citadel of Damascus, was a fortress in the northern Rich District of Damascus that served as the residence of Saladin, commander of the Muslim armies during the Third Crusade, from 1174 until his death in 1193.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

In 1191, while investigating the city's Merchant King, Abu'l Nuqoud, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad visited the citadel on the recommendation of Damascus' Rafiq.[2] During the investigation, he also met an informant at the citadel, who enlisted his help recovering flags stolen from an Assassin cache in the Rich District, in exchange for further information on the Merchant King.[3]
