Takeda Shingen (Japanese: 武田 信玄; 1521 – 1573) was a daimyō in the Kai Province of Japan during Sengoku period, and the head of the Takeda clan. He notably possessed a Sword of Eden.
At the behest of the shogun Ashikaga Yoshiaki,[1] Shingen fought and defeated the forces of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu at the Battle of Mikatagahara. He then pursued the Tokugawa into Mikawa Province. However, Mochizuki Chiyome's kunoichi were unable to prevent Honda Tadakatsu and the Assassin Hattori Hanzō from entering Shingen's camp. Shingen was killed during their attack, and the Sword of Eden was obtained by the Oda-Tokugawa forces.[2]
