The conflict occurred in the channel between the two poleis's islands with the Naxians and Parians serving as proxies for the Spartans and Athenians respectively. Led by Archon Myrrine and her mercenary daughter Kassandra, the Naxians killed the Parian commander Silanos, who was also a member of the Cult of Kosmos, and destroyed the Parian fleet.[1]
