Cú Chulainn was an Irish mythological hero who appears in the stories of the Irish Ulster Cycle, as well as in Scottish and Manx mythology. He was allegedly the son of the god Lugh.[1]

During the 9th century, Flann Sinna tried to find the tomb of Niall of the Nine Hostages, a descendent of Cú's foster son, in order to obtain Cú's shield. Unsuccessful, he mentioned his dream to Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan, who found Niall's resting site and claimed the shield.[2]
