The Basilica Menor de San Francisco de Asis is a church in Havana, Cuba. Built sometime in the 1580s by the Franciscans, the basilica was a dominating presence on the nearby plaza.

The original church had a simpler design, with the baroque features having been added during the early 18th century. It also boasted a statue of St. Francis of Assisi, which stood atop its belltower, though a cyclone damaged the sculpture in 1846.[1]

By the 21st century, the church is used as a concert hall due to its excellent acoustics.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Although it would have existed at the time, the statue of St. Francis of Assisi was not included in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's rendition of the landmark.
