Delete proposal[edit source]

To match with the "[Advisor of the Templar Order|Advisor]", with the same argument as the one on its talk page, being that this "rank" is a speculative and descriptive title rather than a formal position denoted by a proper noun. – Darman (talk) 05:40, 9 November 2024 (UTC)

I agree with the proposal, I think evidence for this one is even more scarce than for Advisor, considering that the word lieutenant appears 5 times in the novel, which is being used as the main source for this page. Not once is it capitalized (unlike other Templar ranks) and it is also never used to refer to Julie de la Serre nor Jean Burnel, two of the three people this page claims hold his rank. It is used to refer to François Thomas Germain thrice, once it is said that there are chairs for the Grand Master and his lieutenants in a Templar meeting place and the other time is Weatherall saying they need to get Elise a lieutenant. Evidence for this being a rank rather than a synonym of something like "supporter", "assistant" or "second in command" is also scarce in the game text files. – Soranin (talk) 01:35, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
Any other agreeing/dissenting voices or can we delete? – Darman (talk) 03:10, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
I suggesting checking the other novels to see if Lieutenant gets used in conjunction with the Templar Order (particularly Forsaken) and if not delete away. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 07:32, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
In Forsaken, you have lieutenant either as part of Braddock's title (colonel-lieutenant) or describing Slater (who's not a Templar, as far as I can tell) as his lieutenant. Other uses of lieutenants in the books are used mostly in cases where either the lieutenant or the person they work for aren't Templars. The few exceptions are in Brotherhood ("Cesare was holding some kind of conference with three of his chief lieutenants: [...] Octavien de Valois; [...] Juan de Borgia Lanzol de Romaní and [...] Micheletto Corella.") and Underworld, where in the Character list you have "James Thomas Brudenell: Templar, Starrick's lieutenant". Neither of these are capitalized to indicate an actual rank. – Soranin (talk) 12:55, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
Since the word's main use, then, is as an infantry rank or a general descriptor for a second-in-command outside formal military or Templar structures, I will correct the pages that link here accordingly. Still have to decide fate of "Advisor". – Darman (talk) 14:00, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
Advisor page has been deleted by community consensus. If there are no other details or stuff that needs to be checked, gonna proceed with deletion of this page once the week passes.Cristophorus35 (talk) 00:04, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
Also made sure to delete the associated category, though I undeleted the discussion so we can refer to it should need be. - Soranin (talk) 01:12, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
