'''Walter''' was a boy who lived east of [[Oxford|Oxeneforda]], [[Oxfordshire|Oxenefordscire]], [[Mercia]] in the late 9th century. He was the brother of [[Nel]].

He and his sister would often play tricks on people. Once, his sister pretended Walter had been turned into a fish by a goblin in order to fool [[Eivor Varinsdottir]] into catching fish for the pair. Walter hid in some nearby bushes and once Eivor had caught enough fish, couldn't contain his excitement and left his hiding place.
