'''Toyotomi Hideyori''' (1593 – 1615) was the son and designated successor of [[samurai]] [[Toyotomi Hideyoshi]].

In 1598, Hideyori's father dies and a {{Wiki|Council of Five Elders|council of elders}} was formed to reign in Hideyori's place, since he was much too young to rule at five years old. One of these elders was [[Tokugawa Ieyasu]], who would plot and scheme to take the power for himself. This conflict between Hideyori and Tokugawa would culminate in the [[Siege of Osaka]] in 1614, when the forces allied with Tokugawa gathered around {{Wiki|Osaka Castle}} to attempt to force Hideyori and his allies to give up.
