'''The Pathway Yamabushi''' (died 1582) was a [[Japan]]ese [[soldier]] who served under [[Oda Nobunaga]]. Along with eight fellow soldiers, he posed himself as a ''[[Yamabushi|yamabushi]]'' during the late [[Sengoku period]].

==Biography==
After the [[Tenshō Iga War]], Lord Nobunaga created a group of nine soldiers to dress and patrol as ''yamabushi''. Their objective was to locate and kill any remaining [[Iga]]n soldiers who survived the war. However, these soldiers became more disoriented and murderous, killing any civilians in their path.<ref name="Yamabushi Imposters">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[Yamabushi Imposters]]</ref>

In 1582, ''yamabushi'' [[Genpaku]] spoke with [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] members [[Fujibayashi Naoe]] and [[Yasuke]] about these imposter monks. Naoe and Yasuke agreed to help by tracking and hunting down these perpetrators. Following Genpaku's lead, they investigated the [[Kumano Sanzan]] in [[Kii]] and found a ''yamabushi'' patrolling around [[Shingu]]. Realizing he held a weapon, they confronted him and promptly assassinated him. They then retrieved the ''[[naginata]]'' [[Izanagi's Reach]] from the imposter's personal effects.<ref name="Yamabushi Imposters"/>
