==History==
In the early 1580s, the ''{{Wiki|sohei}}'' [[Mitsumune]] of the [[Ikkō-ikki]] took shelter at the waterfall along with a number of men after the destruction of their {{Wiki|Ishiyama Hongan-ji|fortress}} in [[Osaka]]. In early 1582, the [[Iga]] [[Ninja|kunoichi]] [[Fujibayashi Naoe]] traveled to Nunobiki Falls on behalf of [[Kyonyo]] to recruit Mitsumune in their fight against [[Wada Koretake]]. Mitsumune was reluctant to do so, as their numbers had greatly diminished following their {{Wiki|Ishiyama Hongan-ji War|war}} against [[Oda Nobunaga]] as well as him having lost the statue of [[Shinran]] entrusted by him to protect.
