'''Monta''' was a [[Japan|Japanese]] man who lived in [[Iga]] with his wife [[Shinobu]] during the late 16th century.

==Biography==
Follow the fall of Iga to [[Oda Nobunaga]] in September 1581, Monta and his wife fled west to Izumi Settsu. After some time, they arrived outside the homestead belonging to a woman named [[Tomiko]], where they met fellow Igan [[Fujibayashi Naoe]]. Monta expressed happiness of her survival and informed her the fate of many of their former neighbours. Naoe then offered Monta and Shinobu to stay at the homestead, which she intended to develop as a community.
