==History==
By 1561, [[Imagawa Ujizane]] assumed power of his clan<ref name="Chapter 12">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows – Tales of Iga]]'' – [[Assassin's Creed: Shadows – Tales of Iga Chapter 12|Chapter 12]]</ref> after his father [[Imagawa Yoshimoto]]'s downfall to [[Oda Nobunaga]]<ref name="Echoes Shadows 05">''[[Echoes of History]] – Shadows'' – Episode 5: Oda Nobunaga</ref> and started to meet with the [[Italy|Italian]] [[Jesuit|Jesuit]] [[priest]] and [[Roman Rite of the Templar Order|Templar]] [[Paulino Massa]]. Over time, Massa made visits solely to Ujizane and soon recruited him into the [[Templars|Templar Order]].<ref name="Chapter 12"/> While seeking the [[Imperial Regalia of Japan|Imperial Regalia]], Massa promised Ujizane the responsibility to find the Regalia and place him into power.<ref name="Chapter 9">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows – Tales of Iga]]'' – [[Assassin's Creed: Shadows – Tales of Iga Chapter 9|Chapter 9]]</ref> However, [[Tokugawa Ieyasu|Matsudaira Takechiyo]], having been to the mansion recently, recalled Ujizane's meeting with Massa, much to his concern.<ref name="Chapter 12"/>

Within the year, Ujizane, acting against Takechiyo, forcibly held Takechiyo's wife [[Lady Tsukiyama|Sena]] and their kids [[Matsudaira Nobuyasu]] and [[Kamehime]] in his mansion to hold power over Takechiyo.<ref name="Chapter 12"/> With his family taken hostage, he enlisted his [[samurai]] and retainer [[Watanabe Moritsuna]] to find a worthy associate to assist him in the rescue plan. Ultimately, Moritsuna found [[Hattori Hanzō]], whose family happened to serve Takechiyo, and brought him to Takechiyo. After a brief discussion, Hanzō agreed to help, as it coincided with his own mission from [[Master Assassin]] [[Alvaro Catarribera]] to find the Templars' base in Mikawa.<ref name="Chapter 12"/>

Planned with Moritsuna, Hanzō stealthily infiltrated the mansion while Moritsuna stood watch outside the perimeter. Inside, he made his way into one of the residences, where he came upon a conversation between Imagawa retainer [[Udono Nagateru]] and Ujizane's concubine [[Okiku]]. While Hanzō [[Eavesdropping|eavesdropped]] on the conversation, Nagateru reprimanded Okiku for her failure to support the Imagawa clan by providing a male heir. When Okiku apologized for her actions, she suddenly fell onto the floor dead as Nagateru admitted that he [[poison]]ed her sake.
