The '''Seto Inland Sea''' (瀬戸内海), also known as the '''Inland Sea''', is a body of water that separates {{Wiki|Honshu}}, {{Wiki|Shikoku}}, and {{Wiki|Kyushu}}, three of the major islands of [[Japan]]. Although technically not a real inland sea, the Seto Inland Sea has the {{Wiki|Naruto Strait}} connecting it to the {{Wiki|Kii Channel}}, which connects it to the [[Pacific Ocean]].<ref name="WP">{{WP}}</ref> In the northeastern part, the {{Wiki|Kitan Strait}}<ref name="WP1">{{WP|Kitan Strait}}</ref> and {{Wiki|Akashi Strait}} connect [[Osaka]]'s bay to the Kii Channel.<ref name="WP2">{{WP|Akashi Strait}}</ref>

In 1582, the Inland Sea was sailed across by the [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] members [[Fujibayashi Naoe]] and [[Yasuke]].<ref name="ACSH">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]''</ref> Three years later, they traveled across the sea towards Awaji to investigate claims of Naoe's mother, [[Fujibayashi Tsuyu|Tsuyu]], being trapped there.<ref name="CoA">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]] – [[Claws of Awaji]]''</ref>
