==History==
In the 1560s, the Akiyama clan were well endowed, due to their ties with their parent clan [[Takeda clan]]. However, when the Takeda clan fell to the combined forces of the [[Oda clan]] and {{Wiki|Tokugawa clan}}, the Akiyama clan's power also fell far as a result.<ref name="A Collection of Crests">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' - [[A Collection of Crests]]</ref>

===Negotiations with the Tsutsui clan===
In 1582, matriarch [[Akiyama Ayako]] were in talks of peace between her clan and the [[Tsutsui clan]], led by their leader [[Tsutsui Junkei]].<ref name="A Chance Encounter">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' - [[A Chance Encounter]]</ref> Ayako was more open to peace talks between the clans<ref name="The Lost Envoys">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' - [[The Lost Envoys]]</ref> and both agreed to have Abbot [[Hara Joken|Joken Hokkyō]] be their mediator for their talks. However, Tsutsui's peace envoys turned up missing and blame was casted on the Ayako and her forces. Coincidentally, the [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] members [[Fujibayashi Naoe]] and [[Yasuke]] investigated the matter to ensure peace between the clans.<ref name="A Chance Encounter"/>

From their findings, Naoe and Yasuke uncovered a deeper plot, perpertuated by the secret collective, the [[Shinbakufu]],<ref name="The Lost Envoys"/> with the help of a secret group, the [[Kurai Eikyou]].<ref name="Kurai Eikyou">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' - [[Kurai Eikyou (memory)|Kurai Eikyou]]</ref> Their investigation led them to [[Mitsue]], where they came upon a drunk Akiyama soldier, which fought them but lost. There, Ayako revealed herself and also admitted that her own investigation led her towards the soldier, who soon admitted to being bought to abduct the envoys. After a series of events, they rescued the remaining envoy, recovered the peace invitation at [[Kōfuku-ji|Kofukuji Temple]] for Ayako,<ref name="The Lost Envoys"/> and uncovered and killed a traitorous [[The Akiyama Agent|agent]] within the clan's stronghold at [[Uda Matsuyama Castle]].<ref name="Kurai Eikyou"/>

At the peace talks, Naoe investigated the temple's grounds and uncovered a plot to kill Junkei. Meanwhile, Yasuke watched the talks falter and soon saw [[Matsunaga Kojiro|Kojiro]] nearby. During the talks, they all saw an ''[[ashigaru]]'' fall with a ''[[Arquebus|teppō]]'' in his hand, instigating Junkei and Ayako to accuse each other for betraying the talks. However, Yasuke, with Kojiro's insistence, threw a ''[[tantō]]'' at Joken, who caught it with ease and revealed himself to be "The Wise" of the Shinbakufu. With his cover blown, he ordered his men to kill them all while he escaped. Together, Ayako, with Junkei and their forces, fought off Joken's men, while Naoe and Yasuke chased down and ultimately killed Joken, ending his plans.
