The {{Wiki|Arabian leopard}} (Panthera pardus nimr) is the smallest and rarest of all [[leopard]] species. 1.5 to 2.2 meters in length including the tail, adult males typically weigh around 30kg, while females are slighter at around 20kg, with golden-yellow fur with rosettes and spots and a underbelly.

Compact yet muscular, it is an ambush predator well adapted to remote, rugged terrain, and able to take down large animals such as {{Wiki|Arabian gazelle}}s and {{Wiki|Nubian ibex}}. {{Wiki|Rock hyrax}} and {{Wiki|Arabian partridge|partridge}} make up much of their prey.

This enigmatic predator was once widespread across the {{Wiki|Arabian Peninsula}}, but today it is sadly listed as {{Wiki|Critically endangered|Critically Endangered}} with only 120 estimated to remain in the wild in mountainous areas of {{Wiki|Oman}} and {{Wiki|Yemen}}. Thankfully there are coordinated regional efforts to protect the species, reduce threats and grow populations so that it can thrive in the future.
