Them not noticing is less their fault and more Daniel's skill (for Desmond) and luck (for Mentor). Fanboyism is still going to make sure Des wins, however, in my opinion Daniel is the coolest AC character to date. He's got attitude, a complex backstory, an air of badassery and he's a softie on the inside. You can't get a better character than that.
Hannah Mueller is a complex character too and I was sad when they didn't even mention her in ACTC...
