Context[edit source]

Can someone explain what is the context behind why this template is needed? I have not played Fate of Atlantis yet. How can it be canon but possibly not fit into the continuity? If possible, please keep any explanation spoiler free. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 17:58, July 24, 2019 (UTC)

The events depicted in the DLC are based off of Aletheia's memories, but are subtly manipulated to accommodate Kassandra's presence. As such, it introduces some... inconsistencies with existing lore regarding the Isu and makes it extremely difficult for us work our what is historical truth and what is a result of Aletheia's manipulations. This template allows is to faithfully catalog the events depicted in thr DLC (as our readers would expect) whilst acknowledging the potential contradictions with existing lore. It also means that everything in the DLC can be reliably cited. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 18:34, July 24, 2019 (UTC)

Expand[edit source]

This is an ongoing discussion.

I'd like to expand this to also cover Isidore's illusions and Eivor's visions but I am not sure how to phrase that in the banner or what if anything should be linked. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 07:35, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

I'm really in conflict with the name of this template. Eivor's dreams hold more credibility than Aletheia's simulations. Yes, the myth filter makes it difficult to determine how things really looked but contrary to the Odyssey sims, these are genetic memories; Eivor is reliving Odin's memories via her dreams, her brain is doing what the Animus would do by Modern-Day standards.
If you want to cover Isidora's worlds (and we could also cover AoE3's pocket dimension due to shared similarities), I'd recommend changing the name, yes. Perhaps "Canon Rupture or "Rift Reality". Maybe "Continuum Breach". Those are the three alternatives I can think of right now. But I'd argue this should not be covering Eivor's dreams.

Oh yeah I forgot about the Tyranny DLC but the Asgard realm stuff needs to be covered by this because of all the stupid weapons in said dreams and the different mythic races. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 02:54, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Let me get this right, you want to make a template to refer to elements affected by the myth filter in general? or just to elements that the historical protagonists can wear/wield in both physical and dream worlds? If the latter, then I'd recommend going for "Animus mod" (yeah, not as cool as the ones I recommended [XD]) since that's what they could be considered, given we have no explanation from the games.
About the mythical races, I think these should be explained in the Isu page. I would gently remind you that Eivor's dreams aren't a simulation but an altered vision of Eivor's genetic memories.

Both for topics on articles derived from said content and the weapons. "Animus mod" doesn't work for the latter because it's not a mod in the original context. As for being a simulation I specifically opened the topic on the idea of tweaking the template to be more inclusive but it could be argued that the visions are still simulation just not technologically derived rather than biologically. However since Sol is currently still playing Valhalla maybe it's best to wait for him to finish to weigh in. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 09:53, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
Sounds good to me, yes.
