Little Judgment Day
(Redirected from 1509 Constantinople earthquake)
Little Judgement Day was an earthquake that hit off the coast of Constantinople in 1509. The quake caused extensive damage throughout the city, notably to the recently built Bayezid Mosque. While the Ottoman Brotherhood of Assassins under Yusuf Tazim focused on providing relief to those affected by the earthquake, the Byzantine Rite of the Templar Order, who only had a weak presence in the city since it came under the domain of the Ottoman Empire in 1453, used the turmoil to strike at the Assassins by hiring mercenaries to attack the Galata headquarters.[1][2]
