To be honest, I hope they don't return to the Kenway family. Other than the fact it's a bit tiresome to explore one family (don't anybody bring up Ezio), I can think of one other reason.

AC3 began with Haytham, and segued into Connor. Similarly AC4 began with Edward, and segued back into Haytham again. Full circle. I wouldn't want Ubisoft to screw that nice circle up.
