I've been thinking about what will happen with the flare and the satellite launch, especially after reading the Revelations Game Guide, which also provided some possible explanations. It said that if the First Civilization were so close to having the tech to prevent the flare, why didn't they prevent it? Jupiter said their methods failed, but he also said that those methods were sent to the Grand Temple and are the key to preventing the oncoming flare. How does that make sense?
It then says that they when warning of a 2nd catstrophe, they may be referring to the satellite launch. This would lead to the extermination of the Assassins and thus the First Civ DNA.
So I think the ending of AC3 can become either of these two things, whether there be a solar flare or the launch of Eye-Abstergo. But I don't see how it can be both. Why would the Templars begin a New World Order if the planet is about to get scorched?
It's possible that Desmond enters the Grand Temple, and finds something else entirely, and I think it's also possible that the First Civ only want to bring their civilization back, not help the Assassins and free humanity, after all, that's what the opposite of what they did.
Ultimately though I think that at the end of AC3 we will see either of three things, maybe all of them, or maybe one or two:
Return of the First Civilization
Solar flare
Eye Abstergo launch
But they may be different than what we think they are. I don't think it will be a happy ending, we've learnt how AC is just like reality and how there aren't "good guys" and "bad guys".
P.S. I for one do not think Ubisoft makes this game for money and will not continue it solely on the purpose of making money. When they begun making it, they did so with the purpose of explaining and exploring this idea of an alternate history and different way of describing where the human race originiated from. They wont "milk" the franchise and will only continue as long the game has purpose and direction.
But that's just my input :)
