When Ubisoft created their base in Montreal, they only made low-selling products like 'Donald Duck - Goin' Quackers'. But after a few games, they started making open world games. After a successful 'Tom Clancy' series, Ubisoft created one of the greatest series of games of all time - Prince of Persia. When the Sands of Time was released in 2003, Ubisoft knew they had a success on their hands. So they tagged the Creator of Sands of Time, Patrice Deselae, with creating a new Prince for the upcoming titles. After Sands of Time, came two new titles, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. But they wanted Deselae to come up with a brand new setting for the Prince, but instead, the series they were starting to create soon became the new Jewel in Ubisoft's Crown.
After the successful Prince of Persia games, Ubisoft Montreal asked Prince of Persia Creator, Patrice Deselae, to come up with a new environment for the Prince of Persia titles. So Deselae dug into the history of the Middle East, and more and more became fascinated with a clan of Assassins being active during the Third Crusade. Ubisoft Montreal soon realized the Bloody Story they were creating didn't fit into the Prince of Persia. Quite accidentally, they had stumbled into whole new territory. Ubisoft began work on Anville, their special Game-Environment Software, that showed them all new settings not fully discovered by games. They gave Anville to none other than Prince of Persia creator Patrice Deselae. And so the new series split away from Prince of Persia, and became its new series, 'Assassin's Creed'.
