About me[edit | edit source]
Yes, I really am a historian, or at least am in the process of becoming a professional one. I am currently a graduate student in pursuit of my doctorate in the field, with a specialization in 20th century U.S. politics. My interests tend towards urban history, and the history of consumerism In America.
In the little spare time afforded to me, I enjoy watching movies, cooking, and of course, playing Assassin's Creed games.
Why Assassin's Creed?[edit | edit source]
Apart from a compelling story and generally good gameplay, the fact that a video game company spent the time researching the historical backgrounds of multiple individuals and cities within their appropriate contexts warms my heart as a historian. Too often, we find "historical" games replete with obvious anachronisms and a loose attention to historical detail.
Of course, we all know that the story itself is a work of fiction, but the fine folks at UbiSoft have endeavored to incorporate historical fact as much as possible while balancing the fantastic aspects of Assassin's Creed. It is always my hope that players play the games, get interested in history, and actually go out and learn the true, non-Assassin's Creed version of the past.
