Pomegranate Gate

The Pomegranate Gate was one of the Gates of Baghdad, located in the south of the Karkh district. Landmarks near the gate included the Monastery of the Virgins, the House of Poulterers, and the Tuesday Market.[1]

In the 860s, the Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq met the swords-woman Murjana, the daughter of the famed merchant Ali Baba, at the gate after receiving her letter asking for help regarding her father.[2]
